Chanukah Fundraiser Big Success for Shaloh House
-
More than 200 parents, grandparents and friends of the students of the Shaloh House Jewish Day School in Brighton attended a pre-Chanukah childrens performance last Sunday at the school and donated $8,000 to create a new security system for the school.
-
"The children's skits, songs and dances were delightful," Shaloh Executive Director Rabbi Dan Rodkin said. "But the $8,000 the children raised with one afternoons performance was a complete surprise." The donations ranged from $5 to $5,000, and came from parents as well as local Russian businesses.

-
"I always knew our students were superstars, but who knew they could command $8,000 for one performance?" the Rabbi joked.
-
"Security is a top issue today for Americans and for Jews in particular," Rabbi Rodkin continued, on a more serious note. "We're extremely happy to be so close to our goal of $9,500 needed for a state of the art security system."
-
Alex Schrayber, owner of New England Transportation, and Polina Morgovsky, owner of AM-PM Medical Supplies, organized Sundays event. Both Mr. Shrayber and Mrs. Morgovsky are parents of students in the school, and together, they are masterminding Shaloh Houses new fundraising campaign.
-
Shaloh House offers pre-K to Grade 5 education. Last year, its students took top awards in several New England regional competitions.
-
"Our students are our treasures. They deserve a top security system," Rabbi Rodkin said
